On behalf of Jakarta Free Spirit running club, thanks to all the participants
with over 500 runners, plus families and well-wishers attending.
An immediate donation of Rp 25m went to Mary’s Cancer Kids Foundation
and in addition, further proceeds from the race will also go to support Mary’s Cancer Kids.
Thanks to Wintermar and to all sponsors
whose logos are featured on this page
for their generous support.
For those of you thinking, "why should I officially join JFS?" when you are linked to the Facebook page, on this email distribution list and have access to the JFS website for free, here are a few reasons to consider;
So c'mon, don't run alone, be a part of one of the oldest running clubs in Jakarta.
Due to a large number of complaints from regular visitors to the zoo, the zoo management have re-established the unofficial 6am opening time. We have received this information directly from the Zoo Management (Thanks Ross).
For those that enjoy the opportunity to run in a safe environment away from traffic on a Saturday morning, join us once again starting at 6:30 am every Saturday at Ragunan Zoo.
For those yet to experience this Saturday morning JFS ritual, after paying a small vehicle and individual entrance fee, enter through the north gates and turn right. Approximately 100m on your left is a bus shelter where we meet for a 06:30 start. Some run the 5k loop, some take paths less travelle d and manage between 8 and 12k. Speeds vary from relatively fast to a slow fartlek (jogging and walking) so please don't be afraid that the pace will be too fast or too slow, you will find someone to run/jog/walk with.
If you enjoy a leisurely and social Saturday morning, all are welcome to join us after the run at citos for a well deserved breakfast when our favourite cafe opens at 8am.
Happy running ...
A reminder that the Jakarta Race Series is under way. The first race was postponed due to storms creating localised flooding and additional safety issues with lightening strikes, but the good news is that this race is now rescheduled for May 15. For those with bibs, please keep them and use them on May 15 at BSJ. The next race in the series is at JIS on March 20. Bibs go on sale soon at Sukaoutdoors, JIS, BSJ and SPH Kemang. Proceeds go to local charities.
Cheryl Koesdjojo has taken the initiative and organised our new official running apparel – well done Cheryl! The order including size range has been sent to the supplier and we hope to announce availability shortly – so watch this space!
For men there is a singlet and for ladies a chic sleeved running top – one for each member already signed up and paid up for 2016 – so please make sure you have paid your dues – and we look forward to a ‘road test’ of the smart new club livery soon at the Zoo and various events round town.
We are getting plenty of interest in our Membership Network. Why not register today to be a member. Paid up members get password access to the membership network area. Fees can be paid at any of our weekly runs to Agnes Safford. Rp 300,000 for individual & Rp 500,000 for family membership.
Stay healthy and sharp!
